We have a 13" spread rule here. If both antlers fork than the inside spread must be 13" or greater. If one antler is slick (like a spike) then it has no requirement for the 13" and can be killed. It can have points on one side, as long as one side is slick. I think the 13" rule is doing good things here. We have good genetics, I have been here 8 years only seen one spike. Most of our 1.5 year old deer are 6 or 8 points. They seem to get stuck at 8 points till after about 4.5.
