Got my temporary green house up

My fish and plants would not make winter without it. Hopefully I can keep them alive all winter.

I spent 100 bucks on it. I had all the pvc, wood and pallets laying around. I drove some 1 1/4" pvc into the ground, and then put the 1" pvc that makes the loop into that. I then built a wood wall and center beam, and used the pallets to fill in the open spots in the wall. Then put the front wall and back wall pvc on. After that I pulled the center plastic to cover the entire thing.

    Thanks

Damn man, that is really nice.

What kind of temp do you think that can hold?

Very cool. I am very jealous of folks like yourself and Backpacker (and others) who build such cool stuff.

Thanks buddy. At night I will be glad if it holds upper 40's. During the day I expect (if the sun is shinning) close to 100 even on the coldest days here. I spent 100 bucks on the plastic (it is 6 mill, still got about half left) the rest I had laying around. So only got 100 bucks in it.

What size is that? It looks wider than I was expecting to see. What size roll did you get?

Your plants look great in there. I know they will love the warm temps. I'm not sure how cold your worse temps usually get down to, do you have any plans to try and heat a little just to hold a few degrees if needed?

    Awesome job!

    Thanks

It was going to be 24X23, but to get plastic that size the price went north fast. So I cut it down to 18 long by 23 wide. I was able to cover it with a roll of 100X20 plastic sheet. I still have about half of it left.

Our lows get into the teens at night, but there is over 800 gallons of water inside of the green house. With that water warming all day, it will help keep the green house warmer over the night than a normal green house. I don't plan on any supplemental heat, but if I run into trouble I will do like last year and put a small gas burner inside with it just barely on. It did a good job on the one I made last year and a 5 gallon tank of propane last all winter.

Good info, thanks for the update. I need to start looking at doing something similar here.

It is going to get to 28 here tonight so I put a gas burner inside and put a 30 gallon pot on top of it. Heating up the water now so that it will help keep the green house cold over night. Hoping it stays at least over 50 inside.
