I already posted in the 'what have you done to prep this week' thread, and I will double post that one here...

but in the mean time, whilst out tending the gardens, I also found these growing:

    and these:

I haven't bible identified them yet... but there are enough to warrant it. any Fungi-heads out there who have an idea? save me some research time...

Mushrooms are bad ju ju unless you can absolutely guarantee what they are... You get an inedible one and you could be looking at some funky things so to speak... If you truly want an idea, I'd consider bringing them to a local mycologist...
It is, of course, obvious that speed, or height of fall, is not in itself injurious ... but a high rate of change of velocity, such as occurs after a 10 story fall onto concrete, is another matter.

Now that would take ALL the fun out of it... lol

I regularly pick and eat a dozen or more that I can identify, and steer clear of another few dozen that I know are bad. When I find something new, I go to great lengths to positively identify it before I so much as touch it with bare skin, never mind eat it.

also known as a poplar milkcap. Which makes sense, since I live in a poplar forest. lol.

    sadly, inedible!

I'll start pulling them out to make room for more of the good ones.

I tried that a few years ago, but we had the hottest driest summer ever, and nothing grew. I'm going to try again.

Buy yourself a book for your area, as a slight regional variation can make one species look like another... and that could be bad. I'll keep snapping pics and posting as I come across them.

Momabear, our morels grow out near the apple trees at the base. They are short lived so you need to be watching for them. I'll make sure to contact you when we see ours pop up since if you have any on your property it will be at the same time.
    I apologize for nothing...
