    How to stitch wounds

I don't want to start the whole qualified/non; stitches/super glue debate here too, but this is a good resourse so it is worthy of a post... IMO

I did some suturing in an emergency field medicine class.

I can patch you up till you get to the hospital.

You will have a bitching scar and probably hate me with a burning passion.
If you think that come SHTF you are gonna jock up in all your kit and be a death-dealing one man army, you're an idiot - izzyscout

I have learned that there are some things that need to be stitched up and others that need to be left alone. I took a fall from a ladder and poked a hole through my lip, that got stitched up. At the same time I poked a deep hole in my leg, that did not get stitched up. The difference is understanding what needs to be done. The deep hole has to heal from the inside out. While the lip although it hurt more initially was something that needed and was easily closed. The big problem that I see with stitching is experience. Since winter is coming on I am going to down load it and have some winter reading. Sniper thanks for the post.

ResidentNet/Wound Closure/suture this site has a decent video with it. Btw hi...im the new guy! Been a medic for about 15 years. Hope I can bring something to the forum. I didn't learn to suture until I took a field emergency med class. Good stuff. Also I like staples . I just found that site the other day after realizing I couldn't remember how to do it.

I had a Doc show me how to stitch once.
He was stitching on me at the time, so I thought what better time to learn?
That was a while back now, but I could get it done.

Scars are those little reminders of lifes' experiences.
