So is the pit 100% underground for that 4' or is kind of like a walkout basement built into a hillside facing south? Do you have a pic of one? This sounds really cool and maybe something to do for my other green house.... I love new ideas!

I apologize for nothing...
Ok the greenhouse is 7 feet tall. 4 feet of it will be underground and the other 3 feet will be above ground. Steps will lead down to the patio door, slide it and enter. I am 5'9" so I will see the out side as if I was 1' 9" tall. The earth remains warmer in the winter due to its Thermal Mass ( Thermal mass - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) This is what I seek since power may become an issue. I have heard that when properly built grid power is not needed to keep the greenhouse fully active all year round. Mine will but a small hole in my small plot of land but I will make the most of what I have.
This is a very cool idea. I may have to check into it more. One above ground green house and one pit....the possibilities are endless!

Ok here is what you seek ladyhk13.

How are you going to keep it drained? wont runoff and ground water be an issue?
Give a man fire, and he'll be warm for a day!
Light a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life!
Cat's are food... not friends!
If you're going to fight, then fight like you're the third monkey on the ramp into Noah's arc... and brother, it's starting to rain.
It is a sealed enclosure as I am to understand it. I am currently in the process of researching the construction as well as digging out the area for it to be built in. I would assume if you place gravel in the base of the structure the water will have time to dissipate.
Bought a kit that has single serving packets of purification powder to treat up to 8 liters of water.
Added a couple of ceramic filter kits from Just Water, picked up more paracord and ammo boxes.
Started building a chicken tractor on a lawn cart trailer. Will house up to 4 chickens with a 4x8 wire run. Will try and get pics up when done. Got most of the things moved into the shed and now mainly cleaning up getting ready to build. No rain and the creeks are drying up, but still getting some water from the spring, not much but some. We are thinking of running more pipes into the rock for more water. We only have 1 right now.
I am me,
I am free,
You can not change me.
If you try, you will see,
That I am unchangeable,
Because I am me.
