View Full Version : It's a girl!

We had no idea if the wild bobcat we took home with us from our vacation was a boy or girl. The vet confirmed its a 4 month old healthy girl! And it is not bobcat but some sort of Maine Coon mix. I hope it gets large enough to take out our stupid dog.

1/10th of a second before the shit storm.
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d70/msomnipotent/tomah011.jpg

This cat is so absurdly long and has such unusual markings that she looks like a poorly drawn cartoon of a cat. And she has already figured out that doorknobs are the way out. Here she is trying to open the back door.
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d70/msomnipotent/tomah015.jpg

She followed my daughter from a farm to our rental house and refused to leave. She even tried to hop in the van (I really do drive a mini van!) and followed us when we tried to leave, screaming and crying the whole way. We asked the farmer for permission to take her, and he was nice enough to offer us a pound of cheese from his dairy cows as well. And she screamed and cried the whole way home. By the way, we live 4 1/2 hours away from where we found her. It was a fun ride. We named her Tomah in honor of where we found her, and because we thought she was a boy.

Almost anytime a cat has an M on its forehead, it's a Maine coon. My brother's maine coon is 22lbs, the dogs run from him.

Never mind what those (yahoos) people are saying . She is so pretty and looks like she will be a great addition to the household. Bubba was part Maine coon and loved getting in the shower or being around the sink when the water was running. So just watch out , she may take a liking to baths.

I tried looking to see. Did you ever try checking a fully clawed cat that doesn't know you? Plus, it looks like she has extra parts. Our friend has boy cats and couldn't tell what she was, either. She looks different from my cat, but then again, I don't go walking around staring at cat ass all day. My other cat is spayed and has a butt full of fur to hide things. This kitten kind of lets it all hang out there.

I read that Maines liked water. She doesn't seem afraid of it, but my daughter tried to get her in the bath tub and it was a no-go.

Don't feel bad. When I was a teenager I got a kitten from a friend. Named it Skeeter-Joe. The night it had kittens it was quickly renamed Skeeter-Mae. :p

Well, the charm has been stripped. I was just telling the vet yesterday how well the kitten behaves and I woke up this morning to leaves and dirt all over my floor. I brought in my moringa oleifera because the nights are too cool for it, and she tore it up. All the bottom branches are either stripped or gone and half of the dirt is out of the container. Five minutes later, she tried to claw out my daughter's eye. She was just playing, and the eye is fine. Then she clawed up my leg and ripped my shirt. IT BEGINS....

msomnipotent
08-23-2012, 05:32 AM
Yeah, I am going to have that problem. She isn't afraid of water at all. She won't go jumping into the tub, but she doesn't mind being splashed. Yeah, I splashed my cat! So what!

I had an awesome little orange tabby that turned the squirt gun into a battle of wills. Or a test of skill, whichever you prefer. It was "How far can I go and still jump out of the way of the squirt gun". A super soaker solved that, but ruined a cheap table. I say it was a win/win at the time.

ladyhk13

[QUOTE=msomnipotent;40984]Yeah, I am going to have that problem. She isn't afraid of water at all. ...QUOTE]

Then you need to sour it a little. add something to it that she won't like... a little hot sauce? maybe some vinegar? It doesn't have to be full strength, but just having to lick some vinegar water off her fur might give her pause when she sees the squirt gun.

How do you make a cat bark?

If necessary... escalate it. work your way up to a can of ether and a bic lighter!

Sniper - Not funny about the fire thing but LOVE the dancing one!!! I know you put that up for me so I wouldn't yell about the fire, right?
MsO - You wouldn't dare!
Grumps - Kind of like the lady calling her cat in without her glasses, huh?
Sniper - My vet has one of those hairless cats. The skin feels sooooooo weird but the cat is as loving as can be so ya kind of get over it real fast since it wants to be petted non stop.
Twitchy - She loved the water so it wasn't bad except for when she was still a kitten and her claws were razer sharp since she liked to sit on my shoulder so she would try to climb up my let if I didn't lift her up fast enough to her liking. Very strange cat indeed but very clean.
Dropy - I think I'm going to have to separate you from Sniper and Echo since they seem to be having a bad influence on you! All of you go to your own rooms. Oh wait...you already are. Crap.

You need to understand....I am extremely allergic to felines....the slightest scratch from the foul beast will raise a whelp on me that will itch for a couple days....if I touch one and then touch my face....my eyes will swell and itch.....at least until the sneezing starts.

That....and I cant get over the look they give every so often like...."if I was a little bigger....I'd eat you"

ladyhk13
08-24-2012, 02:29 AM
^But they are so sweet to people who are nice to them. Got all my girls declawed since they never go outside and no problem with scratches. For allergies there are always meds. Sorry....I will not medicate myself to have a pet that will let the zombies walk in.

I have known some interesting cats....but all of them at some point in time have bit the hand that feeds.....in my eyes that is unacceptable.

To each their own though....just not my thing.

Cat folks vs dog folks is like .45 vs 9mm....no wrong answer.....just preference.

Lady, I put up the nicest fire picture that I could find, and yeah, the dancing one was just for you! lol

Nice analogy Echo, that pretty much sums it up, although some people are in a split camp. I have both a cat and a dog. right now only a 9mm, but can appreciate a .45 as well.

A cat is one of the few pets that truly has the ability to feed itself, and they multiply fast enough that you can always have fresh young tender meat.

It is amazing how much nutrician is in a potted plant. Keep feeding her those, and she's going to be huge!

better get her busy exercising, or she's going to turn into a chubbo!

I also had a chuckle and a wretching feeling when I woke up and saw this again.

I had just scrubbed the floor and cleaned up from the last potted plant attack. I don't think the plant will make it.

I can't believe how big she is already. She grew a pound since we brought her home 3 weeks ago. She is almost the size of our 7 year old cat now.

But look how cute she is!!!! You can't stay mad at that face! Try putting pine combs all around the plant like you would mulch. Most cats don't like it because they are prickly. Sorry about your plant but maybe you can save it with some fertilizer and love???
Dang she's cute!!!!

If not pine cones, then Caltrops!!!

tip them with arsenic!

Or razor wire around the plants

I am fresh out of land mines and saving the last of my Caltrops for a special occasion, so I think I will just cut some card board to cover the dirt and call it a day.

That was the other suggestion I was going to make, but ran out of time. Wow! great minds think alike, eh?

rofl!

Be careful though... I heard that there is a chemical in cardboard that cats react to and it makes them... let's say, unpredictable!

We have discovered the joys of the little red laser toy yesterday. None of my cats have ever been even slightly amused by it, but the kitten loves it unconditionally. I tried it on my older cat, Hailey, first. Nothing but a sourpuss look. "Ohhhh, foolish old woman. Your silly little red dot does not amuse me for I have assembled a laser of my own.. one which will take over the world with the slightest of ease...all while I have retired indefinitely to your basement to protest the arrival of your precious little kitten. Now prepare the ray!!!"

I managed to make the kitten run into the vacuum cleaner and jump on the dog's back today, so my work here is done.
