    Primitive Skills Exhibition

For many here, this will be totally undoable, but I know there are a few on the board in my AO.
For reference, Zuni, Va is about 35-40 minutes East of Richmond on rt 460.
    The Event:
Surviving the Times Primitive Skills Exhibition
    Saturday, May 26, 2012 8am-6pm
Zuni Ruritan Club, 20221 Ruritan Dr. (off rt 460 beside the Post Office) Zuni, Va 23898

Come out and attend a free hands-on event and learn how to:
    > Leather working/Crafting
    > Tan Hides (leather or clothing)
    > Forage for wild edibles
    > Make traps and snares
    > Temporary shelters
    > Soap making
    > Basic Navigation
    > Tallow candles
    > Primitive Fire (flint/steel, Bow drill, Magnifying lens)
    > Blacksmithing

There will be a wilderness self-reliance instructor sharing the importance of the 5 C's of survivability at 10am and 3pm

Each skill will have crafts & items for sale

For more info, or to volunteer your skill, send me a pm, and I will pass on the coordinators' email.

This is not my event, flyers were brought to the shop. I do plan on attending myself to check it out.

If any of you can go please try to take lots of pictures and post a AAR for us. This sounds very interesting.

I plan on going, I'm not yet positive that I will be able to go.
    Looks good at this point.
You know, I have a good friend who used to run his own bushcraft school. I can probably get a class set up sometime. I'd have to ask. I don't know how much he'd charge.

A good place to learn primitive skills is a Rendezvous. Typically these are pre 1840 fur trade reenactments. There are also Civil War, Revolutionary War and French and Indian War reenactments as well. For you folks back east, you can go to the Coalition of Historical Trekkers to find local events.
